About 2000 original date trees remain well and 198 of them is 600 years old. Huanghua winter dates is famous with big size, thin skin, small stone, more juice and colorful. It is regarded as treasure. In 1998, in the exhibition of famous products of villages, it acquired the highest prize. It also acquired a name of “China famous fruit’ on Kuming gardening fair of 1999. Huanghua is named as the Hometown of China Winter Dates by national forest bureau. In June 2002, “the protection zone of Huanghua Winter Dates origin and health food have been approved by China and named as Huanghua winter dates national level standards illustration area. In Aug 2003, the brand of Huanghua winter dates was registered formally. The technology of standards producing and storing and processing have been widely promoted and applied. Up to now, the planting field has reached to more than 200 thousand mu. In the city, the yield was 6 million kg with the output value 120 million Yuan in 2003.
